Yes. Hua Hin Airport (HHQ) is about 6 km north of the town center and has two small scheduled routes in the 2026/27 winter season: a daily Thai AirAsia flight to and from Chiang Mai, and a 10-seat EZY Airlines service to U-Tapao (Pattaya) four days a week. There are no scheduled flights between Bangkok and Hua Hin, so most visitors still fly into Bangkok and travel the rest of the way by road or rail.

The answer in one paragraph
Hua Hin does have an airport, and it is close to town, but it is a small regional airport with very few flights. For almost everyone arriving from abroad, the practical airport for Hua Hin is Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang in Bangkok. HHQ is useful mainly if you are coming from Chiang Mai, or from the Pattaya area on the small EZY plane, and want to skip the long overland trip.
Thai AirAsia to and from Chiang Mai
Thai AirAsia flies between Chiang Mai and Hua Hin as flights FD3900 (Chiang Mai to Hua Hin) and FD3901 (Hua Hin to Chiang Mai). According to Hua Hin Airport's announcement, reported by the local newspaper Hua Hin Today in July 2026, the route ran four days a week until 24 October 2026 and became daily from 25 October.
The flight times change with the season. In the summer schedule, FD3900 left Chiang Mai at 15:40 and landed at 17:05. On the flight-tracking boards we checked for 25 to 27 October 2026, the winter flight was arriving at Hua Hin at about 14:10 and leaving for Chiang Mai at about 14:40. Treat these as a guide and confirm the times on AirAsia's own website when you book. Tickets are sold on the AirAsia website, by agents and at the airport counter.
This is the one route that really saves time. Overland, Chiang Mai to Hua Hin means a long train or bus ride to Bangkok and then another three to four hours south; by air it is a short direct hop. Our Chiang Mai guide covers the other end.
EZY Airlines to U-Tapao on a 10-seat plane
EZY Airlines, a small Thai airline that also runs charters, flew its first Hua Hin to U-Tapao flight on 30 September 2026. The inaugural flight used a Cessna Caravan C208B with about 10 passenger seats and took about 40 minutes. Hua Hin Today reported that scheduled flights would start on 23 October and run on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, with promotional fares from 2,900 baht. One other report gives the start date as 25 October, so we say late October 2026.
The airline's website lists Hua Hin, Surat Thani and U-Tapao as its scheduled destinations. Seats are few, and small planes are more affected by weather, so book early and keep your plans flexible. U-Tapao is the airport for Pattaya and Rayong, explained in our guide to Thailand's airports, which also covers every other airport in the country. If you are coming from Pattaya by land instead, see Pattaya to Hua Hin by bus, van or taxi; the old ferry across the Gulf no longer sails.
There is no Bangkok to Hua Hin flight. As of October 2026, no airline flies between either Bangkok airport and Hua Hin on a schedule. If a search shows a Bangkok to Hua Hin itinerary, check whether it is really a connection through another city or a charter before you pay.
Why most visitors still land in Bangkok
Hua Hin has no international flights on the schedule, so travelers from Europe, the United States, China, Singapore or Malaysia arrive in Bangkok first. From Suvarnabhumi there is a direct bus to Hua Hin, and there are trains, minivans and taxis from the city; our guide to getting from Bangkok to Hua Hin compares them with times and fares. Flying into Bangkok and connecting to HHQ is not possible because there is no flight to connect to.
If you arrive late at night in Bangkok, it is usually easier to sleep near the airport and travel south in the morning. For getting from the Bangkok airports into the city itself, our sister site Viamo has a detailed guide to Bangkok airport transfers.
Getting from Hua Hin Airport into town
The airport is on Phetkasem Road, the main road through Hua Hin, about 6 km north of the center according to local guides, and close to Hua Hin's bus station. Grab works in Hua Hin and is the simplest option; Bolt does not list Hua Hin. If you take a taxi instead, agree the fare before you get in. Local guides also say that green songthaews, the shared pickup trucks, run along Phetkasem Road a short walk from the terminal; flag one heading south and pay the driver when you get off.
Where you stay decides how far you go: the town center is a short ride, while Khao Takiap and Cha-am are further. Our guide to where to stay in Hua Hin explains the areas. For tips on using the app, see our article on how to use Grab in Thailand.
What we could not confirm
We could not reach the Department of Airports' page for Hua Hin Airport, which would normally be the official source for the airport's details. The airport facts on this page come from local news reports and the airlines' own websites, read on 27 October 2026. AirAsia's full winter timetable and EZY's exact flight times were not published in a form we could check, and plans for an AirAsia route between Hua Hin and Kuala Lumpur have been reported but not launched.
Routes to small airports start and stop often in Thailand. Before you plan around HHQ, search the airline's website for your date rather than trusting a route map. Our page on domestic flights in Thailand covers baggage rules and the main airlines, and our Hua Hin guide covers the town itself.
