The surest places to leave a suitcase in Bangkok are the staffed left-luggage counters at Suvarnabhumi Airport (150 to 200 baht per bag per 24 hours, as of October 2026), the storage counters at Don Mueang, the self-service lockers at Krung Thep Aphiwat station, and your own hotel's luggage room. Elsewhere in the city, lockers exist but come and go, so check before you rely on one.
Most travelers need storage for a few hours, not days: between a morning check-out and an evening flight, while they spend a day in the city on the way to the islands, or while they go north for a week and do not want to drag a big case along. The right place depends on where your journey continues. If you fly out, store at the airport. If you take a train, store at the station. If you come back to the same hotel, ask the hotel.
This page covers storage as a service in the city and at the airports. If you are on a short stop between flights and want to go into town, our guide to Bangkok on a long layover covers timing, entry rules and what to see.

Left luggage at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Airports of Thailand (AOT), which runs Suvarnabhumi, lists Bellugg as the airport's left-luggage operator. It has two counters, both open 24 hours. The arrivals counter is on the 2nd floor near Gate 4, close to the Tourist Police desk, which suits anyone who lands, drops a case and heads into the city. The departures counter is on the 4th floor behind check-in row P, which is the one to use if you come back to the airport for a flight.
| Size at Bellugg, Suvarnabhumi | Dimensions (AOT) | Price per piece per 24 h |
|---|---|---|
| Small | Up to 35 x 56 x 22 cm | ฿150 |
| Medium | Up to 45 x 65 x 28 cm | ฿180 |
| Large | Larger than medium | ฿200 |
The fee depends on the size of each bag, and you get a receipt as proof of deposit. Keep it with your passport, because you need it to collect the bag. AOT gives the counter's phone number as 02-134-7795-6. A figure of 100 baht a day still circulates on older websites; it is not what AOT's own page shows.
For a family with two large cases and two cabin bags, a full day comes to roughly 700 baht. That is worth comparing with a cheap hotel room near the airport if you also need somewhere to rest; our page on spending the night at Suvarnabhumi looks at that option.
Use the Level 4 counter if your next stop is a departure. Leaving bags at the arrivals counter on Level 2 and flying out later means a trip down two floors and back up with your cases, at the moment you least want it. If you land and fly out from the same airport, drop the bags at the departures counter on your way out.
Wrapping and sending excess baggage home
Two related services sit on the same departures floor. Mrs. Wrap, which AOT calls the airport's only luggage-wrapping provider, works 24 hours at several 4th-floor entrances and also sells cardboard boxes and weighs bags. Next to the VAT Refund office at Entrance 10, an unaccompanied-baggage counter ships excess baggage as cargo for a service rate of up to 1,500 baht, plus the airline's freight charge and VAT. That can be cheaper than an excess-baggage fee if you have bought heavy souvenirs.
Bag storage at Don Mueang
Don Mueang, the airport most low-cost flights use, has three storage services listed by AOT, all in Terminal 2, the domestic terminal:
- Bellugg, Floor 1, arrivals hall (public area). AOT's page shows it opening at 04:00 but gives no closing time.
- AIRPORTELs, Floor 1, arrivals hall, 24 hours. Besides storage, it delivers luggage between the airport and hotels, homes or malls, which it says takes about four hours, with luggage insurance of 100,000 baht.
- Left Baggage Service, Floor 2, departures hall, 24 hours.
AOT publishes no prices for any of these, so ask at the counter before you hand over a bag. We could not confirm whether Terminal 1, the international terminal, has a counter of its own, so if you arrive on an international flight, allow time to walk over to Terminal 2 or ask at an information desk. If you are not sure which airport your flight uses, read our explanation of Bangkok's two airports first: a bag left at the wrong one is a costly mistake.
Lockers at Krung Thep Aphiwat and the old Hua Lamphong
For train travelers, Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal has touch-screen lockers with English instructions near the ticket office, at about 230 baht for 24 hours according to the rail guide seat61. Our station guide shows where they are in the building. Hua Lamphong, the old station near Chinatown, no longer has a left-luggage office, so do not plan around one.
A locker at the station only makes sense if your train leaves from there. To store a bag before a flight, the airport counters are a better choice, because you would otherwise cross the city twice with your luggage.
Hotel luggage rooms: usually the easiest option
Most Bangkok hotels, from guesthouses to large chains, will keep a guest's bags before check-in and after check-out, usually free of charge. Many will also hold a suitcase for a week or two while you travel to the north or the islands, if you have booked to come back. This is a courtesy, not a rule, so ask when you book or at check-in rather than on the morning you leave.
A few precautions make it safer. Ask for a numbered tag and keep your half. Lock the bag and photograph it. Small guesthouses sometimes keep bags in an open corner of the lobby, so take passports, cash, cards and laptops with you. If you are choosing a base with storage in mind, a hotel near the Airport Rail Link or the MRT saves time on the last day; our guide to where to stay in Bangkok compares areas by station.
Malls, metro stations and storage apps
Coin- and app-operated lockers appear in some BTS and MRT stations, shopping malls and tourist areas. We could not confirm locations or prices for any of them on an operator's own page, and such services open and close often. Check the current location in the app or at the mall's information counter before you build a day around one.
A mall locker is most useful for a few hours with a backpack or a shopping bag, for example on a rainy afternoon spent indoors. A full-size suitcase rarely fits a standard locker.
Delivering bags instead of storing them
A growing alternative is to have your bags carried for you. AIRPORTELs at Don Mueang offers delivery between the airport and a hotel or mall, and Bellugg describes itself as both a storage and a transport service. The idea is simple: you land, hand over your cases, and go straight to the Grand Palace or Chatuchak with only a day bag, while your luggage reaches the hotel later. Confirm the price, the cut-off time and what happens if the hotel cannot receive the bag before you book.
On a day when you only need to cross the city, a taxi with the bags in the boot is often simpler. Our comparison of taxis and Grab in Bangkok explains the choice, and the guides to Suvarnabhumi into the city and Don Mueang into the city cover each airport's transport.
Which option suits your day
| Your situation | Best place for the bags | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Late flight from Suvarnabhumi after a hotel check-out | Hotel luggage room, or Bellugg Level 4 | Hotel is free; the airport saves a trip back to the hotel |
| Day in the city between two flights from BKK | Bellugg, Suvarnabhumi | Bags stay where you will fly from |
| Domestic flight from Don Mueang | Terminal 2 counters | Domestic flights use Terminal 2 |
| Evening night train north or south | Krung Thep Aphiwat lockers | Collect the bag on the way to the platform |
| A week on the islands, back to Bangkok later | Your Bangkok hotel | Usually free if you have a return booking |
What to keep in your day bag
Never store your passport, cash, cards, phone, medicines or anything you need for the next flight. Keep power banks and spare lithium batteries with you as well: they may not travel in checked baggage, and our page on power banks on Thai flights explains the current two-per-passenger rule. If you bought goods you plan to claim a VAT refund on, keep them reachable, because high-value items must be shown at the refund office; see our guide to VAT refunds for tourists.
From 16 October 2026, airport screening staff at Suvarnabhumi may open checked bags without the passenger present, and non-TSA locks may be cut. That applies to checked baggage, not to storage counters, but it affects how you lock a bag you collect and then check in. Our page on airport security in Thailand has the details.

Frequently asked questions
How much is left luggage at Suvarnabhumi Airport?
Bellugg, the operator listed by Airports of Thailand, charges per piece per 24 hours by size: 150 baht for a small bag, 180 baht for a medium one and 200 baht for a large one, as of October 2026. Both counters, on Level 2 and Level 4, are open 24 hours.
Is there luggage storage at Don Mueang Airport?
Yes. Airports of Thailand lists Bellugg and AIRPORTELs in the arrivals hall on Floor 1 of Terminal 2 and a left-baggage service on Floor 2 of the same terminal. The airport does not publish their prices, so ask at the counter before you leave a bag.
Can I leave my luggage at Hua Lamphong station?
No. The left-luggage office at Hua Lamphong has closed permanently. Long-distance trains now leave from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, which has self-service lockers near the ticket office at about 230 baht for 24 hours.
Will my hotel in Bangkok store my luggage while I travel around Thailand?
Many will, especially if you have booked to come back, and usually without charge. It is a courtesy rather than a rule, so ask when you book. Take a tag or receipt, lock the bag and keep your passport and valuables with you.
